Akaltye proudly supported Murawin in 2021 to: evaluate the Queensland Government’s Our Way Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Wellbeing Strategy and Changing Tracks Action Plans; Undertake research on the support needs of foster and kinship carers (with the Australian Institute of Family Studies) for the Australian Department of Social Services; and Inform the establishment of Australia’s first Indigenous Employment Index for the Minderoo Foundation. These three high profile and interesting projects involved extensive community and stakeholder engagement, with Tony Kiessler from Akaltye leading consultations in Far North Queensland, Alice Springs and Darwin. It was great to have the chance to build closer working relationships with Ms Carol Vale and the team at Murawin and develop the capabilities of Indigenous businesses in evaluation and research.
